Chief Justice swearing-in ceremony

Queensland Supreme Court Justice Helen Bowskill will be sworn-in as the state’s 20th Chief Justice in a ceremony scheduled to be held in Brisbane at 9.15am on 22 March 2022.

Legal practitioners and members of the public are invited to attend the ceremony to celebrate the occasion.

Formally invited guests and legal practitioners will be shown to their seats in the Queen Elizabeth II Courts of Law’s Banco Court on arrival. Other legal practitioners and members of the public are invited to attend; if seating capacity is reached in the Banco Court, Courtrooms 3 and 4 (on level 3 of the complex) will be available as overflow rooms to view the ceremony.

The ceremony will be livestreamed on YouTube.

A valedictory ceremony to honour Chief Justice Holmes – who has held the top job since 11 September 2015 –was held on Friday 18 March.
