Legal sector leaders providing free-of-charge assistance to some of Queensland’s most disadvantaged will meet for a two-day forum next week.
Community Legal Centres Queensland (CLCQ) will bring together leaders from the sector for two days of training workshops on the Gold Coast from 9-10 November.
The CLCQ Leadership Forum 2022 is for chief executive officers, directors, principal solicitors and management committee members of Queensland-based community legal centres.
CLCQ provides support and advocacy for 34 independent, community-led community legal centres operating across Queensland.
Queensland’s community legal centres provide free information, community education, advocacy, representation, casework, legal assistance and referrals for vulnerable clients and communities facing legal problems.
The two days of programs will include sessions on leadership training, protecting personally identifiable information, a First Nations strategy workshop and a presentation entitled ‘Building Shelter from the Perfect Storm for Managers and Management Committee’ by knowmore, an independent and free legal service.
The forum will also give community legal centre leaders from across Queensland an opportunity to meet CLCQ’s new CEO Tim Leach.
On day one, there is a limit of two staff members from each centre. On day two, additional staff or management committee members will be invited to join for the knowmore masterclass and governance workshop.
Registrations close today (Tues 1 Nov). For more information, email communications@communitylegalqld.org.au.
