The Queensland Law Reform Commission has released Background Paper 3 in its Evidence Law Review.
Privileges: What the law protects explores privileges and immunities afforded by the State’s common law and/or statute, as well as privileges recognised in other Australian jurisdictions.
The review of the Evidence Act 1977 (Qld) is examining the strengths and limitations of the state’s evidence framework, opportunities for modernisation, and lessons from jurisdictions that have adopted the Uniform Evidence Law.
The review began in December last year, with a final report and recommendations due in December 2027.
