Career Moves: Attwood Marshall

Attwood Marshall Lawyers has strengthened its partnership team with Special Counsel Lucy McPherson and Senior Associate Debbie Sage being promoted in December.

Lucy McPherson

Lucy has been an integral part of Attwood Marshall Lawyers since 2014 and has worked exclusively in estate litigation for the past 14 years. Based on the border with New South Wales, she has built up a thorough understanding of complex cross-jurisdictional issues that arise in cross-border estates.

She is also a passionate advocate for accountability in the Public Trustee system, actively working to address instances of mismanagement and misconduct.

Lucy has been the head of Attwood Marshall Lawyers’ Estate Litigation Department since 2020, overseeing the team’s growth since its separation from the rest of the wills and estates team in 2019.

“I am deeply honoured to assume a leadership role within Attwood Marshall Lawyers,” Lucy said. “We do things differently here at Attwood Marshall Lawyers, and I firmly believe that our unique way of working not only enhances our effectiveness as lawyers but also contributes to a far better experience for our clients.”

Debbie Sage

With more than 20 years working in the field of wills and estates, Debbie provides expert advice to executors and beneficiaries, with a compassionate approach that helps clients carry out all parts of the administration process with confidence. She joined Attwood Marshall Lawyers in 2005.

As an Accredited Aged Care Professional with Aged Care Steps, Debbie also represents many clients who live in aged care facilities or who are preparing for their transition into aged care. In addition to her responsibilities in wills and estates, Debbie leads the Aged Care Department. This service is becoming more sought-after with the increasing challenges posed by the ageing population.

Jeff Garrett, Legal Practice Director who will celebrate his 43rd year with the firm next month, congratulated Lucy and Debbie and said he was excited to have them at the helm of the firm as Partners.

This latest round of promotions brings the number of partners at Attwood Marshall Lawyers to six, with Lucy and Debbie joining Legal Practice Director Jeff Garrett, Wills and Estates Partner Angela Harry, Compensation Law Partner Jeremy Roche, and Commercial Litigation Partner Charles Lethbridge.
