The award-winning Queensland Legal Salary Survey for 2024 is now open.
Now in its seventh year, Queensland Young Lawyers (QYL) prepares the survey which is only one designed specifically for Queensland lawyers.
QYL received the 2023 Australian Young Lawyer Organisation Award from the Law Council of Australia for its work in developing the 2023 Queensland Legal Salary Survey.
The group is encouraging participation in the survey to help shape the future of the profession as the information provided will empower and assist other young lawyers to find their place in the legal market and excel at the negotiating table.
Participants will receive early access to the salary survey report and free access to the salary survey launch event where experts will discuss earnings.
Learnings from the 2023 salary survey include:
- A 5.4 per cent increase to the salaries of respondents, with lawyers between three to four years PAE receiving the highest salary increase of 13.8 per cent;
- 71 per cent of respondents were women. This continues to reflect broader statistics that show female graduates outnumber males two to one;
- 70 per cent of respondents indicated they had an option to work from home, a 5 per cent increase from 2022.
