Increasing awareness of coercive control

Additional materials have been released by the Federal Attorney-General’s office to support the National Principles to Address Coercive Control in Family and Domestic Violence (National Principles).

The National Principles were released in September 2023 and accompanied by a range of supporting resources, including a factsheet and videos, an Easy Read version of the National Principles and a guide for healthcare practitioners to recognise and respond to coercive control.

The additional materials include a video and factsheet for First Nations audiences, factsheets tailored for other at-risk cohorts and on specific behaviours of coercive control, language translations and a supplementary resource for healthcare practitioners.

The materials are available online at www.ag.gov.au/coercivecontrol.

For further information about the National Principles, you can contact the Australian Attorney-General’s Department at coercivecontrol@ag.gov.au.
