Far North Queensland Law Association (FNQLA) will bring glitz and glamour to Cairns when it presents its Carbolic Smoke Ball next weekend.
The strictly black-tie gathering, the largest annual event on the FNQLA calendar, will be held on Saturday, 27 April, at the Pullman Cairns International.
“Each year, the ball is well attended by the judiciary and the members of the local profession, and the FNQLA is eager for this year’s ball to be a success, once again,” event co-chair Lynette Lyons said.
“It offers an opportunity for the judiciary, legal practitioners and barristers, law students, and anyone remotely connected to the law in the Far North Queensland region to interact and enjoy the evening.
“Revenue from the 2024 Ball, will be applied toward future initiatives that benefit the Far North Queensland legal community, including in the form of free or greatly subsidised events and professional development sessions, enabling the FNQLA to advocate for change and greater support of regional practitioners, and meaningfully donating funds to local not-for-profit organisations throughout the year.”
Live entertainment will be provided by Ben Cole and Mira Thornbury, followed by Drewboy Trio. Major sponsors are Harding Property Law and Grant Thornton.
