New excellence awards on offer

Last year's QLS Excellence in Law Award winners at the Gala held at Brisbane City Hall.

Two new awards will be presented at this year’s Queensland Law Society Excellence in Law Awards and members can nominate now.

Practitioners can now nominate for all award categories, including the new awards for Pro Bono Team of the Year and Graduate Lawyer of the Year.

The Pro Bono Team of the Year Award recognises an outstanding team contributing to improving equal access to justice though tangible initiatives which lead to better outcomes for Queenslanders.

The team will have demonstrated a drive to tackle critical and current issues impacting access to justice through the adoption and advocacy of innovative approaches to supporting the legal assistance sector through pro-bono activities.

While the Graduate Award recognises someone with a maximum of two years’ PAE who has excelled, demonstrated potential and made an outstanding contribution to their workplace, and delivery strong outcomes for their peers or clients.

The Workplace Culture & Health Award (Organisation) has been renamed to Employer of Choice for the 2024 Gala.

Nominations for the 24 August event which shines a light on the exemplary efforts of Queensland’s legal professionals.

They provide the opportunity for outstanding solicitors, teams and organisations to showcase their ingenuity and contribution to both the legal profession and the broader community.

Only peer nominations are accepted. Each award has a guiding set of criteria and it is recommended reviewing the award criteria before starting nominations.
