South-western practitioners will have the chance next month to earn CPD points and network within the lush surrounds of a Granite Belt winery.
The Downs and South Western Queensland Law Association (DSWQLA) will host its Stanthorpe Law Conference at the Queensland College of Wine Tourism on Friday, 16 August.
The full-day conference will be followed by wine tasting at the on-site Banca Ridge Winery, then by a two-course dinner at Varias Restaurant.
Speakers will include:
- Higgins Chambers barrister Roman Micairan and Hemmant’s List barrister Reimen Hii, who will speak on Dealing with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Self-Represented Parties;
- Elston Advisory Specialist Susan Chenoweth, who will speak on Integrating Philanthropy in Estate Planning: Leaving a Legacy of Giving; and
- ATSILS Queensland Regional Manager Hamish Patterson, who will speak on A Current Overview of Child Protection Proceedings.
Topics will span all CPD core areas, and more speakers will be announced.
DWSQLA Secretary Sarah de Wit said the inaugural conference last year attracted 32 people from the Darling Downs and South West Queensland.
“We are dedicated to creating rural and regional CPD opportunities for members in our region, and this is how we are providing that service,” Sarah said.
The event, which is worth five CPD points, will run from 9am to 5pm. Register here. Proctor readers can get 10% off by using the code PROCTOR24.
