Today the Chief Magistrate has issued Magistrates (Childrens) Court Practice Direction 1 of 2024 regarding applications for exclusion orders.
The practice direction sets out the standard procedure for applying for an exclusion order under s.20(2) of the Childrens Court of Queensland Act 1992 in the Magistrates (Childrens) Court jurisdiction.
Section 20 states who may be present at a proceeding and s.20 of the Childrens Court of Queensland Act 1992 was recently amended by the Queensland Community Safety Act 2024.
The Act received assent on 30 August 2024.
