Changes to digital identity branding

Practitioners who lodge court and tribunal applications should note that myGovID will change its name to myID from 13 November 2024.

It will have a new name and look, but will be used in the same way. Practitioners will still be able to:

  • Access services – the app remains available to securely access a range of government services;
  • Use same details – login details (including email address) and the identity strength already set up on the chosen device remains the same;
  • Continue use – the app should automatically update to myID or users can manually update it from the App Store or Google Play.

There’s no need to set up a new myID or reconfirm your details.

For Court and Tribunal applications, practitioners will notice this change reflected on application log-in screens as Digital ID. You can continue to select to log in with your QGov account or select myID.

The change from myGovID to myID aims to reduce the confusion between the myGovID app and myGov. The new name for the Australian Government’s Digital ID app reflects the community’s understanding of Digital ID and demonstrates how a whole-of-government ID provider can help protect Australians from identity theft and fraud.

These changes are in preparation for the Australian Digital Identity Act 2024 which is coming into effect on 1 December 2024.
