The Supreme Court of Queensland is undertaking a judicial exchange with the Supreme Court of South Australia until 13 November 2026.
During the two weeks, Justice Brown of the Supreme Court of Queensland will sit in South Australia while Justice Doyle of the South Australian Court of Appeal will act as a judge in Queensland.
The Judicial Exchange Program is an opportunity for the judges to examine practices for listing, managing and hearing matters in other jurisdictions through first-hand experience.
It is a practical means for professional development of judges, as well as improving efficiencies in the administration of the jurisdiction, to the benefit of the courts involved in the exchange, court users and the community more broadly.
Justice Ben Doyle was appointed a judge of the Supreme Court of South Australia in August 2024 and to the Court of Appeal in February 2026.
Before his judicial appointment, His Honour practised as a barrister in several jurisdictions including civil, commercial, public law, workers compensation, liquor licensing and criminal appellate matters.
His Honour studied at the University of Adelaide and Oxford University, where he undertook a Bachelor of Civil Laws. Justice Doyle also served as an associate to the Honourable A.M. Gleeson AC, Chief Justice of Australia.
