Fifteen graduates were warmly welcomed to the Accredited Specialist community at the 2024 Christmas Breakfast on Friday at Brisbane’s City Hall.

Queensland Law Society President Rebecca Fogerty announced the successful graduates in three areas of law (criminal, personal injuries and business). The Honourable Chief Justice Helen Bowskill presented their certificates, recognising their commitment to specialist practice.

“Your ongoing commitment to your specialist practice is a significant achievement which takes much dedication and sacrifice on a yearly basis,” Rebecca said.

Emma Kearney from Bell Criminal Lawyers was
Highest Achiever in CLSA.

“You are leaders in your area of practice. You are also a distinguished cohort of practitioners – our Accredited Specialists total 472 which represents fewer than 3.2 per cent of our 15,000 solicitors.

“As an Accredited Specialist myself, I certainly understand the efforts required to achieve and maintain this accreditation as well as the value you provide to the profession and to your clients.

“It is a quite a standard that we signed up to when we took our oaths and affirmations of allegiance upon admission. But we choose to hold ourselves to this higher standard.

“You are also now connected to a cohort of committed and passionate Accredited Specialists.”

Thirty-seven practitioners were also acknowledged for maintaining their accreditation for 25 years.

Prudence Prescott from East Coast Injury Lawyers
was Highest Achiever in PISA.

The Chief Justice, attending the event for the third year, congratulated both groups.

“In both respects that is an admirable achievement,” Her Honour said.

“For the graduates of the program this year that is because of the demanding nature of the extra work needed to achieve accreditation on top of your no doubt busy professional lives.

“For those who have held accreditation for such a long time, your dedication to practice and commitment to excellence marks you out as leaders of the solicitors branch of the profession, and I congratulate all of you.”
