The Trusts Bill 2025 was passed with amendment during the Queensland Parliament sitting from 29 April to 1 May along with the Crime and Corruption (Restoring Reporting Powers) Amendment Bill 2025.

Domestic and Family Violence Protection and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2025
On 30 April 2025, the Domestic and Family Violence Protection and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2025 was introduced into the Queensland Parliament. The Bill was referred to the Education, Arts and Communities Committee for detailed consideration.
The objectives of the Bill are to:
- establish a framework for police protection directions (PPDs) to improve efficiencies for police responding to DFV and reduce the operational impacts of the current DFV legislative framework. The Bill proposes to empower police officers to administratively issue immediate long-term protection directions without filing an application for a proceeding before a court.
- support an electronic monitoring pilot for high-risk DFV perpetrators, with devices to operate 24/7 and alerts to be monitored and responded to. Safety devices will also be offered to aggrieved persons and named persons.
- simplify, streamline and expand the VREC framework to all Magistrates Courts in Queensland to support victim survivors of DFV when giving evidence.
- clarify that a VREC statement can be considered in civil proceedings under the DFVP Act.
- make other technical amendments to the DFVP Act to strengthen the maintenance of the Approved Provider List (used by courts when making an intervention order that requires a respondent to attend an approved intervention program or counselling facilitated by an approved provider).

Planning (Social Impact and Community Benefit) and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2025
On 1 May 2025, the Planning (Social Impact and Community Benefit) and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2025 was introduced into the Queensland Parliament. The Bill was referred to the State Development, Infrastructure and Works Committee for detailed consideration.
The Bill amends the Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games Arrangements Act 2021 with the objective of ensuring that the State ‘complies with its obligations under relevant games agreements by ensuring that the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games (the Games) venues and villages are delivered in a timely manner and in a way that maximises the legacy benefits of the Games’. The amendments include:
- identifying Games venues and villages and their Games-related and legacy use in the Act
- identifying Games-related transport infrastructure
- providing an expedited pathway for the delivery of Games venues and villages and the construction of Games-related transport infrastructure identified in the Act by removing the requirements for compliance with relevant Acts relating to development and use (other than building work and cultural heritage) and limiting review rights
- providing for a streamlined 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games (Corporation) Board to ensure efficient and effective decision-making capability
- enabling the Queensland Government to have oversight of the Corporation and GIICA by providing for an observer at Corporation Board and Corporation Board committee meetings
- acknowledging the Games Leadership Group (membership of the group is to be decided by the Minister) and that both the Corporation and GIICA must have regard to its advice in carrying out their respective functions, as part of broader whole-of-Games governance arrangements
- removing references to the 100 Day Review as this has been completed
- removing the requirements to prepare a Transport and Mobility Strategy and Games Coordination Plan – these functions will be reallocated to government departments (Department of Transport and Main Roads and Department of Sport, Racing and Olympics and Paralympic Games respectively).

- Economic Development Act 2012
- Local Government Act 2009, the Planning Act 2016

On 20 February 2025 the Crime and Corruption (Restoring Reporting Powers) Amendment Bill 2025 was introduced into the Queensland Parliament. The Bill was referred to the Justice, Integrity and Community Safety Committee for detailed consideration.
The Bill was passed on 30 April 2025.

The Bill is designed to establish a framework for reporting and making public statements that provides clear guidance to the CCC and the public about the factors which should influence when public reporting about corruption matters will be appropriate.
To this end, the Bill’s reporting and public statement powers are subject to a new safeguard in the form of a set of criteria which the CCC must consider before releasing information in either a report or public statement.

Queensland Academy of Sports Bill 2025 – passed with amendment
On 18 February 2025, the Queensland Academy of Sport Bill 2025 was introduced into the Queensland Parliament. The Bill was referred to the State Development, Infrastructure and Works Committee for detailed consideration.
The Bill was passed on 1 May 2025.
The Bill’s objective is to establish the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) as a statutory body, commencing 1 July 2025, to:
- assist emerging and elite Queensland athletes to achieve success at the Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games;
- identify, and foster the development of, Queenslanders who demonstrate the talent to develop into future elite athletes;
- collaborate with institutes of sport, and national and Queensland sporting organisations, to maximise the success of Australian athletes at the Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games.
