Practice Note on livestreaming

The Federal Court of Australia has published a Practice Note about livestreaming of proceedings.

The note, which started on 12 June, provides guidance to practitioners, parties, media and other groups on when livestreaming may occur and the approach to determining this.

It outlines the Court’s livestreaming capabilities, confirms that decisions to allow livestreaming are discretionary, explains how concerns or objections may be raised, and reiterates that recording or redistribution is prohibited and does not involve any waiver of copyright.

The note is scheduled for review in May 2027.
