Colin Biggers & Paisley is pleased to announce the promotion of eight lawyers across its national practice including three in the Brisbane office.
These promotions, effective 1 July 2025, demonstrate the practice’s ongoing commitment to identifying and nurturing outstanding legal talent and enhancing its client-centric service offering.
Tyrone Prisk, based in Brisbane, has been promoted to Special Counsel in the employment and safety team. Six other lawyers across the practice have been advanced to Senior Associate.
Tyrone Prisk
He advises across the full range of employment and workplace relations, industrial relations, work health and safety and local government. Tyrone’s experience extends to advice and defence of small and complex employment and industrial disputes and litigation. He also practices in discrimination law across employment and education.
Tyrone has an in-depth understanding of the Queensland Industrial Relations system. He was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2018 and the High Court of Australia. He has a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Queensland University of Technology, 2018. He was also awarded a Bachelor of Business (major in Human Resources Management) from the Australian Catholic University, plus a Diploma of Community Welfare Work. Tyrone is a Justice of the Peace (Qualified).
Ashleigh Foster
Promoted to Senior Associate in Brisbane are Ashleigh Foster (Planning, government, infrastructure and environment) and Finian Whish (Employment and safety).
Ashleigh has considerable experience advising and acting for local governments and private clients across all areas of planning and environmental law.
She regularly represents clients in complex planning and environment related litigation, including merits appeals, declaratory proceedings, enforcement matters, and infrastructure-related disputes. Ashleigh has a proven track record of obtaining optimal outcomes for clients.
Ashleigh holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts (with majors in geography and peace and conflict studies) from the University of Queensland, along with a Diploma in Legal Practice from the College of Law. Ashleigh was admitted to practice in Queensland in 2022 and is also entitled to practice in any federal court.
Finian Whish
A member of the Employment and Safety team, Finian has developed expertise acting on behalf of employers across various sectors, with a particular focus on education, faith-based, healthcare, and not-for-profit organisations.
Finian enjoys the diversity that advising on the full range of employment and workplace relations matters brings. He has extensive experience in litigation and dispute resolution and regularly work with insurers and their insureds to resolve or defend claims arising under employment practices liability policies.
With a strong commitment to pro bono work, Finian has supported Colin Bigger & Paisley’s partnership with LawRight since 2022, helping to enhance the firm’s overall pro bono offering. He has undertaken studies in both Belgium and Sweden, and in 2020 successfully completed a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and a Bachelor of Business (Economics) at the Queensland University of Technology.
Starting as a graduate at Colin Bigger & Paisley in 2021, Finian was admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland in November 2021 and to the High Court of Australia in June 2022.
