The heritage-listed Bowen Courthouse is to receive a $12.5 million restoration.
Repairs to the 145-year-old building will include floors, walls, stairs, verandas, and ceilings. The roof, gutters, downpipes, and storm water systems will be replaced to ensure the courthouse can better manage weather.
Construction tenders will be called in the coming months, with work expected to begin early next year.
The Queensland Law Society pushed for improvements to court infrastructure in its Call to Parties statement.
