Trauma-informed lawyering will be top of the agenda at this year’s Criminal, Family and DFV Law Conference in Brisbane next month.
Solicitor and researcher Dr Colin James will co-present Trauma-informed legal Practice and Vicarious Trauma at the Queensland Law Society’s CPD event at the Sofitel on 19 September.
The Senior Lecturer at the Australian National University College of Law will join Senior Judicial Registrar Anne-Marie Rice, and Griffith University Adjunct Professor Jason Murakami for the presentation, one of more than 15 across the full-day event.
Other presenters on the day will include Senior Judicial Registrar Kara Best, Judicial Registrar Shannon Bownds, forensic scientist Jae Gerhard, and QLS Accredited Specialists.



Other topics will include cross-examination, callovers, therapeutic responses to DFV, collaborative practice in family law, DNA evidence and youth justice.
This conference, worth seven CPD points, is in-person only. All sessions will be recorded and will be available for online purchase following the event.
