Country-style catering was a highlight of the Land Court conference in Charters Towers last month, where the local CWA branch hosted practitioners.
About 50 delegates gathered at the CWA’s Jane Black Memorial Hall on August 22 to hear from eight industry, government and court speakers.
Land Court President Peta Stilgoe OAM opened the annual conference, providing an update on the court, before retiring member Bill Isdale presented on developments in land valuation.
Queensland Mine Rehabilitation Commissioner James Purtill spoke on performance and trends in mine rehabilitation and closure planning in the state’s resources industry.
Land Access Ombudsman and Water and Energy Ombudsman Jane Pires provided an update on the office of the Land Access Ombudsman.
Luke Croton, Director of the Mineral Assessment Hub in the Department of Natural Resources and Mines, Manufacturing and Regional and Rural Development, gave an update on streamlining approvals in the Mineral Assessment Hub.
Ali Davenport, Chief Executive Officer of Coexistence Queensland (formerly the Gasfields Commission), explained how to build a culture of coexistence in managing land access disputes.
Enhancing the customer focus of the Lands Division was outlined by the department’s Deputy-Director and Registrar of Titles, Amy Rosanowski.
Queensland’s Valuer-General Laura Dietrich addressed the development of statutory guidelines through the Technical Advisory Panel process.
The annual conference, which was held in Emerald last year, gathers those involved in the land, agricultural, mining, resources and energy sectors.
