The finalists in the Downs and South West Queensland Law Association (DSWQLA) Awards have been announced ahead of next week’s Annual Law Ball in Toowoomba, where Queensland Law Society 25-year pins will also be presented.
DSWQLA and the judges were impressed by the calibre of nominations for the awards, which will be presented at the ball which will be held at The Annex, City Hal, on Saturday 18 October from 5.30pm.
The 2025 finalists are:
Emerging Lawyer of the Year – Adelaide Donaldson (Enterprise Legal), Audrey Akenson (Best Wilson Buckley Family Law) and Benjamin Fudge (Hede Byrne & Hall Lawyers).
Lawyer of the Year – Johnathon Althaus (Enterprise Legal), Jon Wiedman (Hede Byrne & Hall Lawyers) and Lyrene Wiid (Lyrene Wiid Lawyer & Migration Agent).
Four QLS members will be recognised for 25 years in the profession. They are Adrian Hallewell (Hallewell Law), Chris Sheath (Chris Sheath & Associates Solicitors), Reagan Wilson (Wilsons – The Family Lawyers) and Katrina Pedersen (Shine Lawyers).
His Honour Judge Lynch KC of the District Court is this year’s guest speaker at the function which has an Alice in Wonderland theme.
