A former Deputy Police Commissioner has been appointed interim Victims Commissioner, Youth Justice and Victim Support Minister Laura Gerber announced this week.
Bob Gee has experience as Director-General of the Youth Justice and Victim Support Department.
The former police officer met with the Minister on Monday.
“I met with Mr Gee today to outline our priority is putting victims first and ensuring they are treated with the respect and dignity they deserve,” she said.
The role was established after recommendations made in the Women’s Safety and Justice Taskforce, Hear her voice: Report Two.
The Commissioner has the power to conduct systemic reviews of key matters relating to victims of crime and is reviewing the State’s Charter of Victims’ Rights.
