The last week of October saw the much-anticipated distribution of the new Proctor Annual, which has proved a hit with members.
Marking the first time the QLS flagship publication has been printed since 2020, QLS CEO Matt Dunn said the striking 130-page annual came in response to member feedback.
“The 2024 QLS Member Survey made it clear that many practitioners still held fond memories of the printed version and would like to see it return in some format,” Matt said.
“The annual showcases what was always most loved about Proctor.
“Essential legal news designed to inform, educate and hopefully entertain.
“It features a range of in-depth articles and interviews with leading legal luminaries showcasing thought leadership within the Queensland profession.
“We are incredibly grateful to our contributors for their time, and their insights and expertise,” Matt said.
The annual is currently being distributed to law firms, with a limited number of copies available to individuals on request.
The first edition of Proctor was printed in 1982, continuing until 2020 when the decision was made to take it Proctor online during the COVID-19 pandemic due to increasing production costs and distribution issues.
Matt said that while the return to print will only be a once-a-year event for Proctor, the 2025 annual provides a prompt for members to provide their feedback on what they want from Proctor online every week.
“As our flagship publication, Proctor has a long tradition of informing, provoking discussion and supporting a strong, ethical and collegiate legal profession.
“While we have moved predominantly online, we want Proctor to maintain those strong values and value to members.”
Members are encouraged to send feedback, letters to the editor and story suggestions to the editor.
