Cultural moot returns to argue whether Gen AI will improve access to justice

Participants in the 2025 Cultural Moot

The Asian Australian Lawyers Association is once again collaborating with colleagues at Pasifika Lawyers Association of Queensland, Queensland African Lawyers Network and Tilé and Olly Meets Podcast to hold the third Culture & Law Moot.

The moot, which give lawyers from diverse backgrounds to appear before esteemed judges, will be held from 6pm on Wednesday 25 March 2026 at Supreme Court of Queensland’s Banco Court.

Chief Justice Bowskill, Justice Darryl Rangiah of the Federal Court of Australia, and Chief Magistrate Judge Brassington will make up the judging panel.

The panel of speakers will engage explore the topic “Gen AI will improve access to justice for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) litigants and lawyers more effectively than conventional dispute resolution processes“.

Co-organiser and co-sponsor Olamide Kowalik said: “The benefits of taking part are the opportunities to meet someone new, someone from a different perspective to you, someone from a different culture to you, and to feel that you can belong and have a place in this profession in your uniqueness but also our collective duty to justice and to the law.”

Queensland Law Society and the Bar Association of Queensland and Queensland Law Society are sponsoring the event, which had its successful inaugural event in 2024.

Seating is limited and bookings are now open.
