The Commission of Inquiry into the Child Safety System has marked a major milestone this week receiving more than 1000 submissions from around the state, including the Queensland Law Society.
Commissioner, the Honourable Paul Anastassiou KC thanked Queenslanders for coming forward to share information, experiences and knowledge about the state’s child safety system.
“As technology has evolved, there have been more opportunities for people to engage with Commissions of Inquiry than ever before,” Mr Anastassiou said.
“The volume of submissions the commission has received from individuals and entities around Queensland reinforces the challenge we are facing, which is that the child safety system needs urgent reform.
“Every submission will help us to provide meaningful analysis of how and why the child safety system can be improved.
“Your voices and input are helping to shape the future of our most vulnerable to ensure young people and children can grow into thriving, engaged adults.
“As a community, we must truly embrace a commitment to every child in state care as if each and every one of them was our own child.”
The Commission will close submissions at midnight on Sunday, 29 March.
