Queensland practitioners have the chance next week to join a national conversation on international protections for older people.
Age Discrimination Commissioner Robert Fitzgerald AM and Disability Discrimination Rosemary Kayess, with civil society leaders and rights advocates, will present a free webinar Advancing a United Nations Convention on the Human Rights of Older Persons on Wednesday, 3 June.
The webinar hosted by the Australian Human Rights Commission will cover:
- the current state of the human rights of older persons in Australia, including existing protections and key issues;
- what difference a new binding international instrument dedicated to the human rights of older persons could make for people in Australia;
- progress to date towards the development of a United Nations Convention on the Human Rights of Older Persons; and
- what you can do to support the human rights of older persons and contribute to the development of a new UN convention.
It will run from 1.30pm to 4pm. Register here.
