Newly minted Supreme Court Justice Patrick McCafferty KC will offer fresh perspectives from the bench when he presents at the annual Gold Coast Legal Conference next month.
Justice McCafferty, who was welcomed to the Supreme Court in November, will present Getting it right in commercial litigation: Practical skills for applications, evidence and pleadings at RACV Royal Pines Resort at Benowa on 12 June.
He will be joined by Sophie Robertson, Special Counsel Bartley Cohen, and Mia Behlau, Legal Practitioner Director M Behlau & Associates, with the trio providing practical advice on topics such as application procedures, practice directions, court etiquette and best practice advocacy.
They will be among 20 presenters in eight sessions at the full-day conference, which will cover a range of other topics including professional courtesy, neurodivergence in the profession, off-the-plan contracts, effective advocacy, AI, stress management and self-care.
Attendees can earn up to 10 CPD points through a combination of live sessions and a supplementary recorded package.
