The Women Lawyers Association of Queensland welcomed a new committee at its AGM last month.
Downs and South West Queensland Law Association gathered a panel of local practitioners for an Early Career Lawyers Winter Warmer Brunch in Toowoomba.
The practitioner who represented both parties in a conveyancing matter claimed that a $5000 fine and a costs order would lead to “a permanent, lifelong debt trap that cannot be resolved through insolvency”.
“She (Agnes McWhinney) opened doors that generations of women, myself included, have been fortunate enough to walk through.”
“…he will not learn the seriousness of these proceedings and the amount of money being expended by respondents in these proceedings, unless he has to pay for that himself personally”
The Federal Court was asked to scrutinise the use of the word “challenging” in a comment by a tribunal member during a hearing disconnection.
