The Registry Committal application will transition from the Legal Practitioner Portal (LPP) to the Queensland Courts and Tribunals Online Services Portal (OSP) this Monday, 28 July.
The Registry Committal application was initially launched on the LPP with three pilot locations – Brisbane, Cairns and Rockhampton.
Feedback from practitioners highlighted technical challenges with the platform. In response, Courts and Tribunals has redeveloped the platform on the OSP, creating a more stable, scalable and user-friendly experience.
The OSP will continue to evolve with more services being gradually added to the portal as services are digitised.
Statewide roll-out
The transition to the OSP will be implemented in stages across Queensland:
- Stage one: Brisbane, Cairns and Rockhampton Magistrates Courts (original pilot sites) – 28 July 2025.
- Future stages: Additional locations across Queensland will be introduced during financial year 2025-26. The state-wide rollout will be completed by 30 June 2026.
What you need to do
To access the Registry Committal application on the OSP, legal practitioners must:
- Register their firm on the OSP – this can be done by any practitioner holding a current practising certificate from the Queensland Law Society.
- Nominate a firm ‘Join Request’ code, which other users will require to link their account to the firm.
Upcoming webinars
To ensure legal practitioners in these initial locations experience a smooth transition to the OSP, Queensland Courts and Tribunals will host two webinars – one for defence lawyers and one for prosecutors.
These webinars will focus on the Registry Committal application process (relevant to roles) with a brief introduction to the OSP. Participants can also ask questions.
Defence:
Tuesday 29 July, 4.30-5.15pm – click here to register
Prosecution:
Thursday 31 July, 4.30-5.15pm – click here to register
Additional webinars and demonstrations will be offered as other locations are confirmed.
Legal Practitioner Portal to be decommissioned
Following the successful rollout on the OSP on 28 July 2025, the LPP will no longer accept new Registry Committal applications.
The LPP will be decommissioned four weeks later on 22 August, enabling existing applications in progress to be finalised, as no data will be migrated from the LPP to the OSP.
