Practitioners will have the chance to hear from leading voices in native title during a livestream of a Federal Court seminar next month.
Native Title: A special procedure for the just and proper ascertainment of Native Title rights and interests will be held in Darwin on 21 July as part of the court’s 50th Anniversary National Practice Area Seminar Series.
The seminar will reflect on the operation of the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth) since it was enacted more than 30 years ago, exploring how the court has helped the Act achieve its aims.
Speakers will include former Federal Court judge Michael Barker KC, National Native Title Tribunal President Kevin Smith, and anthropologist Dr Kingsley Palmer, moderated by Federal Court Justice Katrina Banks-Smith (Perth) and Federal Court Justice Michael O’Bryan (Melbourne).
The event will be livestreamed from 4pm to 5pm (Queensland time) here.
