Professor David Heilpern, Southern Cross University Dean of Law and Chair of Discipline in the Faculty of Business, Law and Arts, will speak at the Gold Coast District Law Association annual general meeting next week.
Professor Heilpern brings decades of experience both on the bench and in practice to the 11 September event at the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort, Main Beach.
He will speak on Sovereign Citizens and the Law, along with some reflections on vicarious trauma in legal practice, sharing insights and anecdotes drawn from his career as a magistrate and practitioner.
Professor Heilpern was a Magistrate and judicial trainer in New South Wales from 1998 to 2020.
One of the GCDLA’s main events of the year, it will be held from 12.30pm-4pm.
