The 2026/2027 Gold Coast District Law Association (GCDLA) Management Committee has a range of events planned for the coming year including a Meet the Judiciary Breakfast next month.
The new executive of Erin Mitchell of Potts Lawyers as President, Guy Neilson of Evans Brandon Family Lawyers as Vice President, and Erlinda Nunn of OMB Solicitors as Treasurer, was elected at the annual general meeting on 11 September. Daniel Samuel of Paddingtons Lawyers and Attorneys, remains Secretary.
The Committee Members are Anna Morgan of Take Control Legal, Joelene Nel of McLaughlins Lawyers, Ben O’Brien of HW Litigation, Ailsa Day of BGM Family Lawyers, Casandra Laurie of Ramsden Lawyers, Nicholas Rossi of Marino Law, Paddy Kilmurray of Bay Street Chambers, Sienna Drysdale of Potts Lawyers, and Suzanne Crause of OMB Solicitors.
Next month will be a busy one for the GCDLA with three events planned.
The FCFCOA CPD Series Number 3 will be held on Friday, 9 October. Senior Judicial Registrar Abbi Golightly will present on the treatment of pre-paid legal fees and interim orders for expert and mediation fees at first instance, following Shinohara (having regard to s 114UB(1)).
The session will consider why parties are less likely to release funds early where they are not adjusted 1:1 at the end.
It starts at 7am at Southport Golf Club.
The association’s Inaugural Topgolf Event – Teeing Up Connections is planned for Thursday, 22 October.
It will be an afternoon of networking, entertainment and friendly competition at Topgolf Gold Coast at Oxenford.
The event will provide an opportunity to network in a relaxed and engaging environment.

The Meet the Judiciary Breakfast Friday, 30 October, will cap off a busy month.
The event at Lagoon Gallery at JW Marriott Resort & Spa, Surfers Paradise. will start at 7am for 7.15am and is expected to finish by 8.45am.
