Practitioners are invited to comment on potential outcomes from the Retail Shop Leases and Other Commercial Leases (COVID-19 Emergency Response) Amendment Regulation 2020.
The new regulation, which extends the operational period of the Retail Shop Leases and Other Commercial Leases (COVID-19 Emergency Response) Regulation 2020 for a further three months to 31 December 2020, was made by the Governor in Council and notified on the Queensland Legislation website yesterday.
Queensland Law Society is preparing a submission following a request from the Department of Justice and Attorney-General (DJAG) for stakeholder views on questions such as whether the regulation (or particular measures under it) should continue beyond 31 December 2020.
Any evidence or data that can inform the consideration of stakeholder suggestions would be appreciated.
DJAG is to advise the incoming government of stakeholder views following the state election on 31 October.
Practitioners are invited to email their views to policy@qls.com.au by Wednesday14 October so that a summary of opinions and suggestions can be compiled for DJAG.
