Insurance law firm HBA Legal has moved into a growth phase following its integration with Crawford & Company in November.

Last month the firm announced the appointment of Courtney Steele, who joins the firm after 13 years with Ashurst, to lead HBA Legal’s Brisbane office, bringing with her solicitor Kaila Leendertz.

Courtney is an expert across medical malpractice and health law, workers’ compensation, public liability, personal injuries, contractual disputes and indemnity disputes. She advises insurers and public companies, and assists clients with witness interviews, risk management and assessment, review of policies and procedures, training staff and managing all aspects of litigation in the aftermath of incidents.
Damian Hegarty
This month HBA Legal boosted its workplace health and safety offering by appointing Damian Hegarty as a Partner in Brisbane.
Damian focuses on the defence of actions brought against companies and individuals by various regulators and has been involved in high-profile inquests and prosecutions both in Queensland and nationally. His advice is sought by clients across sectors that include construction, petroleum & gas, mining, manufacturing, environmental, retail, transport and electrical.
