Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal President Justice Kerri Mellifont has released QCAT Practice Direction No.1 of 2022, which specifies current mask and check-in requirements for QCAT.

Her Honour has also revoked QCAT Practice Direction No. 11 of 2021.

In consideration of the Chief Health Officer’s Public Health Face Mask Requirements Direction effective from 2 January 2022 and the greater prospect of community transmission of the COVID-19 virus, the following applies:
a. All members of the public including practitioners attending QCAT’s premises must wear a mask at all times, and
b. All members of the public attending QCAT’s premises must check-in using the ‘Check in Queensland app’ and practise safe distancing.

The practice direction does not apply to the Magistrates Courts – see Magistrates Courts Practice Direction 5 of 2021.
