Pasifika Lawyers Association of Queensland – New Year event

The Pasifika Lawyers Association of Queensland (PLAQ) is hosting a New Year’s breakfast on Saturday 26 February from 10 to 11.30am (Brisbane time).

PLAQ is a community of lawyers and law students with a connection to the Pacific Islands. Its purpose is to represent this diverse community within the Queensland legal profession and to support, network and educate its members to build the profile of Pacific Island lawyers across the state.

Chief Justice Catherine Holmes AC will be attending the event and speaking about her experience of the changes in diversity of the legal profession, over the course of her career.

Legal practitioners and law students, and those with a connection to the Pacific are encouraged to attend, however numbers are limited. Register for the event.

The Association started out as a group of three women in 2013, and now has more than 40 members from across Queensland. PLAQ now also offers mentorship to early career lawyers and law students.

Visit the PLAQ website for more information about the Association, or contact pasifikalawyersqld@gmail.com.
