Nauru seeks Supreme Court judge

The Government of Nauru has asked for expressions of interest from persons suitably qualified under Part V of the Constitution of Nauru to be appointed as a Judge of the Supreme Court of Nauru on a circuit basis. 

Demonstrated experience as a judicial officer is essential. The Supreme Court is a superior Court of record which hears and determines a wide range of matters inclusive of civil, criminal, land and constitutional matters. The successful candidate will be required to travel to Nauru to preside over cases as and when required.

The position is for a three-year term and applicants are asked to provide the following:

  1. A letter of expression of interest setting out how the applicant meets the requirements of the position 
  2. A curriculum vitae – no more than four pages and must include the names and contacts of three professional referees, and
  3. Five recent court decisions demonstrating the applicant’s scope of experience and ability to address legal problems in different areas of the law. 

The successful applicant will be required to provide further documentation.
