The Queensland Law Society 2021-22 annual report was tabled in Queensland Parliament on Monday.
The annual report details the significant work that the Society undertook over the last financial year and also reveals there are 14,637 practising certificate holders in Queensland – more than 13,000 of whom are also QLS members.
QLS 2022 President Kara Thomson, in her message, says lawyers continue to have a powerful voice throughout the wider community, in particular advocating for the most disadvantaged and vulnerable members of society.
“As a Law Society we have a collective voice too which is often called upon by stakeholders,” Mr Thomson says. “We do advocacy work with our specialist committees on legal policy issues trying to defend the rule of law, respect fundamental legislative principles and generally bring about good law.”
