Justice Derrington to present WA Lee lecture

Justice Roger Derrington of the Federal Court will present the 23rd annual WA Lee Equity Lecture in the Supreme Court of Queensland’s Banco Court on Thursday 17 November.

His Honour will speak on the topic of ‘The nature of Foundational Proprietary Interests in Tracing’ at the lecture, presented by the Queensland Community Foundation in partnership with the University of Queensland’s TC Beirne School of Law.

Justice Derrington, who was appointed to the Federal Court in Brisbane in 2017, has been an adjunct professor at the University of Queensland since 2005, where he has lectured in courses that include commercial law, insurance law, trusts, pleadings and legal practice, leadership and the law, and resources law.

The WA Lee Equity Lecture is held each year in honour of foremost equity and trusts academic and author Honorary Professor WA ‘Tony’ Lee. It continues a tradition of maintaining contemporary debate on matters of equitable jurisdiction, technique, principle and doctrine in Australia and beyond.

Registration is required for the lecture, which is to begin at 5.30pm and will be followed by networking drinks.
