QLS publishes Cultural Calendar 2023

Queensland Law Society has announced the publication of its Cultural Calendar 2023, celebrating the many significant First Nations cultural events and anniversaries throughout the year.

QLS is encouraging firms to become familiar with the Cultural Calendar, available from the First Nations resources page on its website and to get involved in upcoming events, which include:

  • National Reconciliation Week 2023 (May 27-June 3): Be a Voice for Generations. This year’s theme encourages all Australians to be a voice for reconciliation – where we work, live and socialise.
  • NAIDOC Week 2023 (2-9 July): For Our Elders. Our First Nations Elders continue to play a special and important role in our communities by guiding our current and future generations and passing on their esteemed knowledge and experience.

As QLS journeys toward the third year of its Cultural Outreach Strategy (COS), it takes pride in the progress to date and looks forward to continuing its mission to effect positive change.

Queensland Law Society acknowledges and pays deep respects to the Ancestors and Elders of the lands here in Meanjin, the Turrbal and Jagera peoples and throughout Queensland. Heather Ferris is the First Nations Legal Coordinator for the Society.
