Funding for three new District Court judges and three new coroners was announced today as part of the 2023-24 State Budget.
Two judges are expected to be appointed in Cairns and Ipswich, and another at a location to be determined.
Two coroners will be appointed and a temporary coroner will be made permanent.
Research has revealed a 27 per cent increase in reportable deaths handed to the Coroner’s Court over the past 10 years.
The State Government has pledged more than $34 million to court operations and services over the next four financial years.
