A veteran District Court Judge will be laid to rest in Toowoomba at the weekend.
Judge Eric Charles Ernest Pratt QC died on July 7, aged 91.
Judge Pratt was admitted in Papua New Guinea in 1965, and to the Supreme Court of Queensland as a Barrister-at-Law in 1972.
During his career, he was briefed as junior counsel to the then Gerard Brennan QC to represent the Northern Land Council before the Aboriginal Land Rights Commission. He then represented the Council in matters relating to land and mining for more than a decade.
Judge Pratt was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1980 and in 1982 appointed as a judge of the District Court of Queensland. He retired from the District Court in 2001.
His funeral service, which will be livestreamed, will be held at 9.30am on Saturday at the T.S. Burstow Chapel, 1020 Ruthven Street, Kearneys Spring, Toowoomba.
