Career Moves: Grace Lawyers

Grace Lawyers is expanding its Queensland team as part of the firm’s national growth strategy and proud to announce the appointment of three new Partners Sam Marsh, Jarad Maher and Brendan Pitman.

Founding Partner Colin Grace said: “I am extremely proud that we have been able to attract legal talent of this calibre to join us on our journey in Queensland”.

Co-founding Partner Daniel Radman expressed: “Following the recent appointment of our CEO Alexander Lang increasing the bench strength of our Queensland team is another part of our exciting strategy to provide fully integrated services across practice areas and geographic locations to service all of our client’s needs.”

Joining the firm’s Brisbane Partner Brenton Schoch, these Partners are supported by the rest of their Queensland team with several recent internal promotions seeing some of the firm’s valued team members stepping up into senior roles. Brenton has been with Grace for more than nine years and was made a Partner in the Brisbane office in 2022.

Sam Marsh will join Brenton in the Brisbane office and lead the Brisbane litigation team.

Sam is a proven litigation lawyer and skilled in management, and all forms of litigation and negotiation, including commercial disputes, insolvency, body corporate litigation, and mediation and arbitration.

Sam has written articles on Director’s duties and personal liabilities of directors to name a few.  He has an Honours Law Degree, LL.B (Hons) from the University of Exeter, GradDipLP from the College of Law, and the Advanced Certificate in Insolvency from ARITA.

Jarad Maher has practised exclusively in strata law in all states of Australia, with a particular focus on Queensland.

Jarad will head the bodies corporate and property team in the Gold Coast office and will provide advice to bodies corporate and unit owners. 

Jarad is regularly involved in disputes before the Commissioner’s Office and QLD Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT). He also has extensive experience in building defect claims and can assist bodies corporate in proceedings against the builder through the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) (formerly the Queensland Building Services Authority QBSA)) or the courts.

Jarad has an Honours degree in Law LLB (Hons) and a degree in Business from Griffith University.  

Brendan Pitman will join Jarad in the Gold Coast office and will head the body corporate litigation team.

Brendan has advised bodies corporate, lot owners and caretakers on exclusive use areas, bylaw enforcement, building management statements, debt recovery, utility infrastructure, maintenance responsibilities, accessing records, claims of privilege, policies of insurance, retaining walls and fences, enforcement of adjudicator orders, committee and general meeting issues, occupation authorities, fair work claims, termination matters, and many more. Brendan has a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Business Management from University of Queensland, a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice, and a Master of Laws from University of Queensland.
