The retired teacher, barrister, jurist and Aboriginal activist will present A Legacy of Firsts on Tuesday as part of JCU’s Law Seminar Series.
The 82-year-old, deemed a national treasure by the National Trust, is a ground-breaker in many fields.
Her achievements include being the country’s first indigenous magistrate and Queensland’s first female indigenous teacher. She received an Order of Australia in 1984.
