The Queensland Court of Appeal will undertake its sixth judicial exchange with the Western Australian Court of Appeal and its second with South Australia during the next two months.
From 8 to 18 October, Justice Vaughan of the Western Australia Court of Appeal will act as a Judge of Appeal in Queensland, while Justice Dalton will sit on appellate matters in Western Australia.
From 11 to 15 November, Justice Doyle of the South Australian Court of Appeal will act in Queensland, whilst Justice Bond will sit on appellate matters in South Australia.
Justice Vaughan was appointed to the Supreme Court of Western Australia in 2018 and became a judge of the Court of Appeal in 2019.
While a barrister, Justice Vaughan practised principally in the areas of insolvency, commercial litigation and taxation.
Justice Doyle was appointed to the Supreme Court of South Australia in 2015 and became a judge of the Court of Appeal in 2020.
While a barrister, Justice Doyle practised principally in the areas of general commercial and common law litigation, as well as defamation, insurance, medical and other forms of professional negligence, competition and consumer law, and appellate criminal law.
The Supreme Court of Queensland’s Judicial Exchange Program started in 2019 as an opportunity for appellate judges to examine practices for listing, managing and hearing appeals in other State jurisdictions through first-hand experience.
