Paralegal Emily Kelly’s mentor was so committed to moving her admission to the Supreme Court of Queensland that she cut her overseas trip short.

The newly admitted lawyer’s admission was moved by Pullos Lawyers Managing Director Cassandra Pullos on 8 October.

“Our Managing Director and my mentor Cassandra Pullos was kind enough to return early from her overseas trip to move my admission,” Emily said.

“It has been refreshing and inspiring to learn from Cassandra with respect to working collaboratively with other professionals and her solutions-focused approach. I hope to continue to incorporate these approaches into my own practice.

“Her commitment to fostering positive relationships within the legal profession has shaped my understanding of how law can be practised with greater empathy and mutual respect. I am truly grateful that she moved my admission and for her ongoing guidance, which has not only enhanced my legal skills but has also reinforced the importance of working together to achieve the best outcomes for clients.”

And Emily is committed to learning as much as possible in the area of family law at the Gold Coast firm.

“I decided to pursue a career in law, specifically in family law, because I am passionate about helping individuals and families navigate some of the most challenging and emotional times of their lives,” she said.

“Family law provides a unique opportunity for me to combine my legal skills with empathy, offering support and practical solutions to our client’s during difficult transitions. Although challenging, applying legal principles to real-life issues, while making a meaningful impact on families, is what truly drives me to specialise in this area of law.

“I hope to continue learning as much as possible from my colleagues and developing my skills in family law, offering compassionate and practical legal services. I also plan to expand on my knowledge of collaborative practice as I believe it offers more amicable and long-term solutions for families in a cost-efficient manner.”

Emily said her admission day was very memorable.

“I felt an overwhelming sense of pride and accomplishment when being admitted amongst my colleagues and peers,” she said.

“A standout of the day was signing my name into the roll of lawyers in front of my friends and family. It was a symbolic moment that reaffirmed not only the accomplishment of completing my studies and being admitted, but the responsibility and commitment that comes with being a lawyer.”
