Cornwalls has celebrated the third generation of the Evans family entering the legal profession with the admission of new solicitor Miranda, who has had several reasons to celebrate this year.
Miranda’s admission was proudly moved by her father, Paul Evans, a Partner, in the Brisbane office in February.
“He has supported me throughout my life. I knew he would love moving my admission, and this would be a special memory for us,” Miranda said.

“Before it all started I was both nervous and excited. It has been so many years of study, whilst working, and trying to balance everything. I just wanted it all to go smoothly.
“I knew all the paperwork had been done (and triple checked) but until the judge said ‘let them be admitted’ it did not feel completely real. So many people were supportive at work, home and socially. It was a special day that I will always remember.”
Paul said: “It was an honour and a pleasure for me to move Miranda’s admission. On the day, I remember most the energy in the room from all the young new members of the profession. It was initially nervous tension, followed by relief once admitted and excitement outside.
“It was a busy and happy experience. Miranda had worked with me and with others in the firm whilst she was studying. It all seemed a long way off when she first started working and studying, but here she is now, an admitted lawyer.”
In April, Miranda was presented with the Una Prentice Award for the female graduate from the Australian Catholic University with the highest grade-point average for her Bachelor of Laws degree in 2024.
“I had grown up around lawyers but was not sure if I wanted to go in the same direction,” Miranda revealed. “Then I met some female lawyers that worked at the same firm as my father. This changed my view of lawyers. These amazing women made it seem interesting and fun. They had, and still have, a great sense of style, grace and humour. I was in high school at the time. This is when I thought, maybe this is for me.”
Cornwalls has a proud history of supporting women in the legal profession starting with Flos Greig, the first woman to graduate with a Bachelor of Laws degree in Victoria. After completing her articles of clerkship with Frank Cornwall in 1905, she became the first female admitted to practise law in Australia.
Alex’s admission was moved by Robert King.
Cornwalls also celebrated the admission of Alexandra Lovell on 6 May. Alex’s admission was moved by Partner Robert King.
Alex is a valued member of the Cornwalls building and construction team.
Before entering law, she worked as a contracts and administration manager for a specialist trades contractor. She brings experience and insight into the building and construction industry, from both practical and legal perspectives.
