The District Court of Queensland summer break 2024/25 arrangements in applications and crime are as follows:
The summer break will start on Monday, 16 December 2024, and conclude on Tuesday, 28 January 2025. (Monday, 27 January 2025 is the Australia Day public holiday.)
A Duty Judge will be available to hear urgent matters only, starting the weeks of 23 December 2024 and 30 December 2024. To arrange such a hearing, contact court security on 3738 7743. Court security will then contact the Associate.
Judges will sit in the Applications jurisdiction as follows:
16 – 20 December 2024 – 1 Judge;
6 – 10 January 2025 – 1 Judge;
13 – 17 January 2025 – 1 Judge;
20 – 24 January 2025 – 1 Judge.
Matters should be listed in the normal way, i.e. by entry in the Applications List at the Registry. Requests for matters to be heard despite the absence of available time on the List should be made to the Civil List Manager (dc-civillistmanager@justice.qld.gov.au) who will liaise with the relevant Associate.
Judges will sit in the Criminal jurisdiction as follows:
16 – 20 December 2024 – 3 Judges;
6 – 10 January 2025 – 1 Judge;
13 – 17 January 2025 – 2 Judges;
20 – 24 January 2025 – 5 Judges.

Unless special arrangements are made in advance with the approval of a judge, staff of the Recording and Transcription Service will not be available outside normal Court hours.
