Crimes against the Commonwealth will be featured in the next instalment of James Cook University (JCU)’s free 2025 Law Seminar Series.
Townsville barrister Madonna Hayes will present Insights into Federal Criminal Law, on Thursday, 13 February, at JCU’s Townsville campus and online.
The session will provide an overview of federal criminal law, its operation within state and territory courts, and the specialised work of the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions in areas such as cybercrime, border security, international drug importation, human exploitation and terrorism.
Townsville born-and-raised Madonna has more 25 years’ experience practising in criminal law. Currently employed by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Service, she spent more than 18 years working as a federal prosecutor around Australia.
