Due to the ongoing effects of severe weather and flooding in North Queensland, the Townsville Courthouse is closed today, 3 February, and will be closed tomorrow, 4 February.
Further Practice Directions have been issued.
The Supreme and District Courts will remain closed on Wednesday, 5 February. A decision regarding the operation of the Townsville Magistrates Court on 5 February will be made tomorrow.
For all impacted matters listed in the Townsville Supreme and District Courts, registry staff will be in contact in due course. All prospective jurors have been notified.
If during the closure, an SDC matter requires an urgent hearing contact:
- Between 8.30am and 4.30pm – the registries of the Supreme and District Courts at Brisbane on 1300 497 117 or by email to CCU@justice.qld.gov.au; or
- Outside hours – the security console of the Supreme and District Courts at Brisbane on 3738 7743.
The Chief Magistrate has approved altered arrangements for Magistrates Courts in Townsville and Charters Towers on 4 February and Ingham on 6 and 7 February.
All matters will be administratively adjourned, and a Notice of Adjournment will be sent to parties.
