The Queensland Parliamentary Speaker is calling for applications to fill the vacancy for the Parliamentary Crime and Corruption Commissioner (Parliamentary Commissioner).
Under the Crime and Corruption Act 2001 Act (CC Act), the Speaker will appoint a person as the Parliamentary Commissioner only if the appointment has the bipartisan support (as that term is defined in the CC Act) of the Parliamentary Crime and Corruption Committee (committee).
The CC Act sets out the eligibility requirements for appointment, which includes that a person is qualified if a person has served, or is qualified for appointment as, a judge of the Supreme Court of Queensland or another State; or the High Court or Federal Court of Australia (ss 304-305).
The position has been advertised on Seek and Smart Jobs. It will be advertised in The Courier Mail and The Australian. Applications will close on 30 March 2025.
